Leo Smith
Development Coach
ECB Level 2 Coach

Leo Smith brings on board over fifteen years playing experience. He has been a fundamental part of the Chris Gayle Academy coaching staff, for the past three years. His past and present playing experience, has been a valuable asset for the young players on the academy. As well as this, Leo is also a lead coach at Woodford Wells Cricket Club. He will be working with the fast bowlers of the academy in order to improve upon their technique and skill. Leo currently plays his cricket at Enfield CC, as an opening fast bowler!

Ryan Cunningham
Development Coach
ECB Level 2 Coach

Ryan a West Indies cricketer having represented Jamaica in 29 first class games and 8 A listed games. He has also represented Jamaica at the 1998 Commonwealth Games. Ryan has played club cricket in England for several years and currently plays his cricket at Sawbridgeworth CC, as a left arm spin bowler. He will be passing down his knowledge, gained playing in the West Indies, to all the young spinners on The Chris Gayle Academy.

Manish Patel
Development Officer
ECB Level 2 Coach

Manish Patel leads the team, being a highly experienced ECB Level 2 Coach, at the age of only 22. Having suffered a serious knee injury in early 2010, he turned his attention towards coaching. Manish holds various roles in the industry, ranging from Programme Manager to Community Coach. He currently works for numerous organisations, Surrey Cricket Foundation and Essex County Cricket Board, to name a few. He is currently a senior Lead Coach at Cheam Cricket Club. Manish has also coached in the Caribbean for the Saint Lucia Women’s National Team, acting as a specialist fielding coach. As well as this, he also ran cricket clinics in the less deprived areas on the island, in order to increase participation of the sport. Manish will be hoping to start his Level 3 qualification, in the coming year.

Prith Sarvaiya
Development Coach
ECB Level 2 Coach

Prithviraj Sarvaiya is a talented young cricketer, having played for a host of teams. These include Essex U19's, Hertfordshire County Cricket Board and The Chris Gayle Academy. He currently plays for North Mymms Cricket Club. He has been a key player for the Chris Gayle Academy, for the past two years, spearheading a very inexperienced bowling unit, he is a highly talented leg spinner. He is a newly qualified ECB Level 2, having coached for North Mymms CC and Woodford Wells CC.

Trevor Yorke
Development Coach
ECB Level 2 Coach

Trevor is a qualified Level 2 coach, having been coaching for more than 8 years. He started off assisting at his local club, Hutton CC. Having done this, he then decided to pursue his Level 2 qualification, which he successfully completed in May 2011. Trevor then started doing some Street 20 Cricket and School Sessions, for Essex CCC. He’s progressed onwards, to now coaching one of the Essex Disability Teams, which he thoroughly enjoys and gets great pleasure from.
